MySpace 2.0

March 10, 2026 By admin Leave a Comment

Anyone around for the Early Internet™️ probably remembers MySpace (Hi Tom!), and might even still remember their Top 8. Or got in fights about their Top 8.
We spent *too long* agonizing over what terrible midi rendition of our favorite song would greet anyone who wandered to our page. We used choppy GIF animations, garish backgrounds, and posted about nothing.

Which, to be quite honest, isn’t much different from now. Only now there are algorithms to decide your worth, and that music clip might get a copyright strike.

I probably sound ancient, and that’s ok. Just another Millennial whining about whatever it is we whine about these days.

Currently, the Internet feels like when the favorite spot you used to go to gets “discovered” by everyone else. It used to be quiet and safe and familiar, and now it’s unenjoyable and the crowds suck the fun out of going. The place that used to be your haven is now loud and unfamiliar and abrasive.

So you find a new place to settle to be away from the noise.

That’s what this space is. Or what I’m hoping it is and will grow to be. This is MY corner of the internet. No crowds, no shouting to be seen, no posturing.

There are enough places to go with algorithms and sensationalism. This is a space for me and my own personal kind of chaos (because I am definitely chaos). But most importantly, it’s a place that allows my nervous system to settle.

This is My Space. You’re welcome to join me here in my non-sensical journey to discovering what this space really wants to be, because I’m still finding out. Who knows!

And if you see Tom, tell him he’s always welcome, too. 😄
