In July, my boyfriend and I decided to go try our luck gold panning. While we didn't find any gold nuggets, I did come away with some personal nuggets of wisdom that I often forget.
While July was ages ago (I kept forgetting/avoiding posting), I still wanted to write about it. It's a good reminder for me, and I hope for you too, that so much of the time we get stuck in our own heads about the things we can't do, and forget we're actually pretty awesome.
Here's a couple pictures of my trusty ninja sticks (what my PT calls my walking sticks), and my view from the bank!
- I'm able to do more than I think I can. I climbed up and down a pretty steep bank from the road to the river. I did have balancing help, both from my boyfriend and my trusty sticks, but the majority of it was just me and I'm very proud.
- While I am still very capable, I do need to make sure I respect rest. I often think that because I'm feeling good I can keep going, and sometimes that's true. But the reality is, if I would just take 5 or 10 minutes to rest, I would be able to engage even more fully.
- Nature really is magic. I've never been an outdoorsy gal, but getting outside away from people is always nice. No distractions, no phones, no technology....just the woods, the river, and peace.
